Kampala is the capital of Uganda however the gateway for air travel is Entebbe Airport where three major airlines, South African Airways via Johannesburg, Emirates via Dubai and British Airways via London, fly into regularly.
The Ugandan Shilling is the major currency in this East African country and at present 1 Australian Dollar converts to 1,396 Ugandan Shillings.
Major Tourist Attraction - Highland Gorillas. Uganda's national park at Bwindi close to the Congo border, is home to half of the remaining highland gorillas in the world and unsurprisingly this attracts thousands of tourists. Gorilla permits are obligatory and numbers are limited. Unless you have plenty of time to hang around waiting to get a permit it makes more sense to go with a truck tour.
Australia does not have an embassy or consulate in Uganda however the Australian High Commission in Kenya can provide consular assistance to Australians in Uganda.
