Zimbabwe

Harare is the capital and international gateway for Zimbabwe.

Two major airlines that service the Zimbabwe International Airport are British Airways via London and South African Airways via Johannesburg.

The Zimbabwean Dollar is the main currency in Zimbabwe and at present 1 Australian Dollar converts to 192 Zimbabwean Dollars.

Victoria Falls is a major tourist attraction for travellers to this area although since Zimbabwe's leader, Robert Mugabe, went on his redistribution frenzy in 2000 this town, along with other major attractions such as Hwange and Matopos national parks have suffered big drops in visitors. Many tourists for the Falls now stay in the Zambian town of Livingstone, just across the border. Once the most vibrant tourist destination in Africa, Zimbabwe is a shadow of its former self. And naturally its not Mugabe and his cronies who are suffering but the thousands of ordinary people who use to make their living in tourism.
